Boo! If Rodón wasn’t rattled by Edman taking him deep early, he surely started to unravel in the third inning. The Dodgers lineup is unrelenting. Even after whiffing Shohei Ohtani in that frame, Rodón still had to deal with the heart of the order with two outs. Betts, Hernández, Freeman and Edman all got to him before he recorded that third out. Rodón’s final line: 3 1/3 innings, 6 hits, 4 runs, 0 walks, 3 strikeouts and 3 home runs. That’s spooky season.
The over went 9-2 in the LCS round and it hit in Game 1. Even if some crazy stuff had to happen late, it hit. These two offenses showed that even with it being 0-0 in the middle of the fifth inning, the over can still hit. That’s just how talented they are. There were plenty of baserunners left on, too.

It’s the sort of thing that can crush a team, and Boone is going to need to rally his team before Game 2 to ensure this series doesn’t spiral before the Yankees head home. There are no pep talks or anything one can say to take away the pain of losing like that. The Yankees simply need to understand: They’re here for a reason, regardless of how much it hurts.
